Obituary of William Huther August 11, 2026

William A. Huther
June 2, 1936 – July 11, 2026

On July 11, 2026, we said goodbye to our dad, our Poppa, and as some knew him, “Big Bill”.

Predeceased by his wife, Patricia Maio Huther, his parents, brother, and sisters. Survived by his children, William (Jamie) Huther, Scott (Pam) Huther, Valerie (Duncan) Richards, Greg Huther, Kyle (Carolyn) Huther, Neil (Kristen) Huther, Suzanne Maio (Mike Follan), Michael (Enza) Maio, Rebecca (Andrew) Stainton, James (Tracy) Maio, 18 grandchildren and 15 great grands.

Bill was an incredible athlete initially as a 4-sport standout at Edison Tech where he was named Athlete of the Year, was a NYS bowling Champion, became a Scholastic Magazine All American football player and earned a full scholarship to the University of Miami. Later he was inducted into the Section Five Hall of Fame. His talent, determination, and leadership continued throughout his life.

Along with sports, he continued to leave his mark on the community. He owned & operated businesses that so many people remember including Huther’s Paddock, Chestnut Pub, Taddeo’s and Eastside Sporting Goods. Everywhere he went, he built relationships, created memories, .and became part of ours and Rochester’s story.

Rest easy Dad. You are loved & will be remembered always.
