Kathleen (Kathy) Musshafen, age 65, passed away peacefully September 15, 2022, surrounded by comfort and love.
Kathy was born April 6, 1957, in Hartford, CT. From that day on, she left her mark with everyone she met. After the family moved to the
Musshafen homestead in NY, she graduated from Byron Bergen High School in 1976. Kathy had several jobs over the years including Duncan
Donuts, Chloride Electro Networks, LCM and Qualicoat. She made lasting friendships throughout her work life.
Kathy loved crafting, cake decorating, bowling, golfing, hunting and trivia. She was an avid movie goer, her favorite being the live-action version
of The Beauty and the Beast, which we watched daily with her the last weeks of her life. She loved Neil Diamond music. She could relate to
some of the lyrics and stories the songs told. She went to see him in concert which turned out to be one of her favorite memories. She loved to
travel and always wanted to do more. She traveled throughout the United States. One of her favorite trips was her cruise to Alaska. She loved
the whole experience, but the highlight was seeing the glaciers. She was amazed by the beauty of it all.
Kathy was a nurturer by nature. At an early age, Kathy developed a special bond with her sister Cindy, which grew stronger as they got older.
There was never anything that Kathy wouldn’t do for Cindy. She would take her shopping and if Cindy saw a green shirt or hat, it was hers.
Kathy made sure she always had her “green”. Cindy’s well-being was always the most important thing to Kathy. Kathy devoted much of her life
to making sure that Cindy was happy and cared for.
Her nurturing continued when her nephews and niece came along. She was there from day one, doting over each one of them. She spent
countless hours with them. Taking them to the movies, dinner, and sporting events. Really, anywhere they wanted to go. She adored them and
they adored her. They are heart-broken by her loss.
Kathy is survived by her mother Patricia Musshafen, brother, Brian (Terri) Musshafen, sister, Cindy Musshafen, nephews, Jason (Angel)
Musshafen, Ryan (Kate) Musshafen, niece Kelly (Symone) Musshafen, great-nephews, Gabe Blackman, Cohen Musshafen and great-niece
Emerson Musshafen. She is also survived by beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She is pre-deceased by her loving father, Donald F. Musshafen.
A special thank you to our Aurora House family. Kathy was surrounded by the most loving and thoughtful caregivers, twenty-four hours a day, in
a beautiful atmosphere. Her every wish was granted, and she truly was at peace. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. We will be forever
grateful for the kindness and nurturing she was shown at the end of her life by all the wonderful people there. Please consider donating to this
amazing place in memory of Kathy.
