Benjamin Taylor
December 12, 1943 – December 28, 2025
Ben was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, December 12, 1943, the son of Benjamin and Rita Corriveau Taylor. He graduated from Keene State University and received an MFA from Temple University. Ben served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Afghanistan for 2 years, returning to the U.S. around 1969 to teach art. The culture shock was severe, and Ben soon arrived at the Rochester Zen Center to begin a decades-long spiritual journey. He took a job with the State of New York to support his young family and remained with the State until retiring in 2003. His interest in art stayed strong, and some of his drawings were exhibited at the Flower City Art Center.
Ben is survived by his dear wife Marian, beloved children Zia Taylor, Ona Strang, Zed Taylor, Eba Taylor, Ara Hagan, and 6 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rochester Zen Center or the International Rescue Committee.
