Marjorie Ruth Kohl October 10, 2024

Kohl, Marjorie Ruth (Calver), died October 1, 2022. Marjorie was born December 15, 1925 to William Harry and Beulah Mae (Peo) Calver. In her early 30’s, she took the bus to Sibley’s Hair Salon downtown, every Thursday to have her hair done, where she was noticed and subsequently pursued EVERY week in Sibley’s, by a man whose eye she had caught, Ralph A. Kohl. Ralph was relentless in his efforts to charm her, and eventually she agreed to go out with him, and subsequently married him on St. Patrick’s Day 1961. He was 17 years her senior and they lived happily together until his passing in June 1978. She spent many years as a volunteer at Hill Haven Nursing home, where her brother was a resident, also volunteering countless hours with the Disabled American Veterans, a cause near and dear to her heart. She did not have children of her own, but was
very close to her two nieces, Nancy Saddock and Patti DeCarolis, and their current and ex-husbands, Harry and Larry, who were truly nephews to her. She also dearly loved her eight Great-Nieces and Nephews, Harry, Joellen, Brian, Nicholas, Brittany and Jillian and subsequently, their families and her fifteen great-grandnieces and nephews. She is survived by Nancy and Patti and their families, and by Karen Van Order, who she considered to be a third niece. She was pre-deceased by her husband Ralph, her parents, her brother Ralph, her sister, Eleanor (Calver) Corson, an infant sister, Muriel and her nephew, David. Nancy and Patti would like to thank Auntie Marj’s friend, Jean for the kindnesses and care she has shown Marj as her health declined.
